Rhoyne

Fire & Blood

The Rhoyne serves briefly as the setting for Lysaro Rogare’s failed escape from capture. At Volon Therys, while waiting for a boat to carry him across the river, Lysaro was surrounded amid fighting at the docks and taken prisoner. The episode makes the river a crossing point that offers no refuge: his remaining Unsullied guards were killed defending him, and he was sent downriver to Volantis.

A Crossing at Volon Therys

Lysaro had fled Lys with one hundred Unsullied, but had been forced to sell most of them during his journey. By the time he reached Volon Therys on the Rhoyne, only twenty remained. They were hemmed in during confused fighting by the docks as Lysaro waited for passage across the river.

The River as a Route of Captivity

After his capture, Lysaro was taken downriver to Volantis, where the Triarchs offered him to his brother Drako Rogare. Drako declined and proposed that the Volantenes return Lysaro to Lys instead. The Rhoyne thus connects two stages of his flight and downfall: the attempted crossing at Volon Therys and the forced journey toward Volantis that followed.
